Jivita Harris-Casey
| With equal parts zen and equal parts rock n roll, Jivita Harris-Casey has been creating jewelry for over ten years. Formally trained as a fine art jeweler and black smith, she has defined her aesthetic in silver, gold and a characterizing patina. While the themes in her work stem from her love and relationship with nature, her jewelry goes beyond literal translation of it and explores the dynamic energy of the world around us.
All of the designs are originally hand fabricated using traditional metal smithing techniques. Often the makers mark is left as file or hammer marks. These pieces are then molded and locally cast using recycled and reclaimed silver. Each piece is  hand finished in the studio and some are embellished with natural gemstones. Jivita’s jewelry is featured on current TV shows, such as; Cougar Town, Private Practice, The Mentalist and Castle to name a few. With custom lines in museum stores and representation in  fashion boutiques, fine artisan shops and the web, Jivita’s jewelry has a wide client base, appeal and reach. Jivita was born in Dordrecht, Holland. Going back to visit friends and family has inspired a wanderlust that continues to inspire and enhance her life. After earning a BFA in metal arts from California State University Long Beach, she settled in the city she now calls home, with her husband, two adventurous sons, two desert tortoises and a cat. |
